Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society presents prestigious award to School of Medicine faculty member

Lindsie Cone, M.D., associate professor of Family and Preventive Medicine and medical director for Palmetto Health Richland’s hyperbaric medicine program, was recently recognized with the Craig Hoffman Memorial / Charles W. Shilling Award. 

The prestigious award is presented annually by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society and recognizes the outstanding contributions in hyperbaric medicine teaching and education.

The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society presented Cone the award during the organization’s annual conference June 21-23 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Cone joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1988. Since 2000, he has served as medical director for Palmetto Health Richland’s nationally accredited hyperbaric medicine program. Under his leadership, the program attracts international interest from health care professionals interested in training at a premiere hyperbaric medicine center.
